Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 2 large onions, sliced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme or 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 cup shredded Gruyere cheese

- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.
- Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper, then add them to the skillet with the onions. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side until browned.
- Add beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and thyme to the skillet; stir to combine.
- Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked.
- Remove from the oven, sprinkle with Gruyere cheese, and return to the oven for an additional 5 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve hot with your choice of side.
Notes
- For a deeper flavor, let the onions caramelize longer.
- Serve with a crusty baguette to soak up the sauce.
