Key Ingredients for Creamy Oven Baked Chicken Thighs

Chicken thighs: For Creamy Oven Baked Chicken Thighs, I prefer skinless and boneless chicken thighs. They’re naturally juicy and loaded with flavor, perfectly soaking up every bit of the rich, creamy sauce during baking. This cut of meat gives you that delightful tenderness in every bite.

21 Salute Seasoning: This delightful blend of spices from Trader Joe’s introduces layers of flavor and depth to the dish. Feel free to swap it out for any poultry seasoning that you love—you might even discover a new favorite!

Unsalted butter: Using butter not only helps to sear the chicken but also contributes to a luscious sauce. Its rich taste offers a depth that olive oil simply can’t provide, making the dish feel indulgent.

Garlic: Freshly minced garlic is a must-have in this recipe. Its wonderful aroma and zestiness create a flavor profile that elevates the creamy sauce—don’t skip on this ingredient!

Heavy whipping cream: To achieve that decadently creamy texture, I always choose heavy cream. It envelops the chicken beautifully, making each bite a creamy wonder.

Parmesan cheese: Finely grated parmesan cheese adds a savory kick. As it melts into the sauce, it enhances the overall flavor profile, ensuring each bite is as delicious as the last.

Cooking Tips and Notes

Creating Creamy Oven Baked Chicken Thighs is not just about following a recipe; it’s about crafting a delightful experience that’ll make your taste buds dance. As you embark on this culinary journey, keep these handy tips in mind for the best results.

Choose the Best Chicken Thighs

Opt for bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs for a juicy and tender texture. The skin crisps up beautifully while still allowing the meat to bask in that creamy sauce. If you’re cooking for a crowd, check your butcher for bulk deals!

Don’t Skip the Searing

Searing your chicken thighs before baking is key. It locks in the moisture and adds a rich color that sets the stage for a tantalizing dish. Just a few minutes on a hot pan makes a world of difference.

Perfecting the Creamy Sauce

For an extra layer of flavor, consider adding a splash of white wine or chicken broth to the sauce. This helps deglaze the pan and incorporates any delightful bits left after searing. Don’t forget to taste and adjust the seasoning before baking!

Monitoring Cooking Time

Every oven is unique. While the recipe gives a great guideline, always check for doneness with a meat thermometer. Aim for an internal temperature of 165°F to ensure your chicken is perfectly cooked without being dry.

With these tips, your Creamy Oven Baked Chicken Thighs will go from good to spectacular. Enjoy crafting this delicious dish!

Creamy Chicken Thighs

  • Author: Helen Bittner
  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x
  • Diet: Gluten Free

Description

A delicious and creamy dish featuring chicken thighs, perfect for a comforting meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 5 chicken thighs skinless & boneless, dried with paper towel
  • 1 teaspoon 21 Salute Seasoning from Trader Joe’s or use any poultry seasoning of your choice
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter unsalted
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons garlic finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • ½ cup heavy whipping cream
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese or prieve cheese, finely grated
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 2 teaspoons dill finely chopped for garnish, optional

Instructions

  1. First, preheat the oven to 375F.
  2. Next, season chicken with seasoning, salt & pepper, on both sides.
  3. Now, melt butter in oven-proof skillet over medium heat, add chicken thighs and sear for 2-3 minutes or until golden color on both sides. After, transfer to a plate and set aside.
  4. To make the creamy chicken sauce, melt butter in the same skillet. Once it melts add garlic and sauté for 1 minute, stirring few times.
  5. Now, add flour and stir continuously for 1 minute.
  6. Next, slowly pour in chicken broth and cook for 1 minute stirring continuously, or until sauce thickens.
  7. Pour in heavy whipping cream and give it a nice stir.
  8. Add cheese, stir and taste it, add more salt or pepper, if needed.
  9. Finally, add chicken thighs back into the skillet, coating each thigh in the creamy sauce.
  10. Place in the oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, uncovered or until chicken is cooked thru.
  11. Garnish with dill and more cheese, if desired. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Before seasoning the chicken, it’s important to pat it dry. By doing this, the excess moisture is removed, which makes the seasoning stick better and gives the chicken a nice sear.
  • When cooking, I personally prefer using butter to sauté garlic and brown the chicken, as it adds an incredible amount of flavor. However, if you prefer, you can use olive oil instead.
  • To ensure that the chicken thighs cook evenly and develop a nice crust that locks in the moisture, it’s best to brown them in batches. Overcrowding the skillet can cause uneven cooking and affect the texture of the chicken.
